Lower East Side Corner Maybe Named Beastie Boys Square
A Lower East Side corner is being proposed to be named Beastie Boys Square. Brooklyn resident LeRoy McCarthy wants to name the Manhattan Lower East Side blocks of Ludlow and Rivington streets after the famed hip-hop group. The corner was a moajor part of the groups history as it was the cover art of their 1989 album Paul’s Boutique.
“I think the Beastie Boys represent New York in a certain way,”
“They grew up here. They are New Yorkers.” said McCarthy
